保护环境，从我做起

老师，同学们：

   大家好！

   Good morning，my dear friends,

今天我们在国旗下演讲的题目是《保护环境，从我做起》。

   Our topic today is Let’s protect the environment in our daily life.

明天就是植树节了。在此之际，我们需要响应号召为了保护环境，种植大量的树木。

We all know that it is Tree Planting Day tomorrow. In order to protect the environment,we really need to plant a lot of trees.

  此外，作为学生，我们可以为保护环境做些什么呢？

Besides, as students, what should we do to protect the environment?

  你经常使用电池吗？你知道它需要50多倍的能量才能使它生产出来吗？

Do you often use batteries? Then do you know it takes 50 times more energy to make them than they produce?

而一节小小的电池能够污染的水量足够一个人饮用一生。 

And just one simple battery can pollute as much water as a person can drink in his whole life.

  事实和数字是惊人的。所以请你尝试只在必要时使用电池。如果可能的话，请把你用过的废旧电池让废品回收公司回收。因为合理回收，它们就不会再污染环境了。

The facts and figures are amazing. So would you please try to use batteries only when it is necessary? If possible, send the used ones to the recycling companies so that they will be made into new ones and won’t be able to pollute the environment any more.

  我们学校在一楼大厅设立了废旧电池回收箱。很多同学都把旧电池从家带来投放在里面。

In our school, you can see a used-battery recycling box on the first floor.Many students bring the used batteries from home and throw them into it.

再以纸张为例，许多人会因为纸张便宜而随意浪费它们。为了保护树木，我们要尽可能地减少用纸量。所有请同学们尽量在纸的两面书写或打印，以避免浪费，并且把废纸回收利用发挥它的最大价值。

Many people waste paper randomly because paper is cheap. But we should use less paper so that we can help save trees. Make sure you write or print on both sides of the paper so to make less waste. And recycle the paper as much as possible.

许多人喜欢使用不可降解的物品，因为它们无需清洗。但它们是不环保的。我们呼吁同学们把家中的筷子带来学校重复使用。减少使用不可降解的物品的次数。

Many people like disposable boxes because they don’t need to wash them up. But it’s not green.We suggest you bring your own chopsticks from home and reuse them. Use less disposable items, either.  

我们在学校吃饭时要使用纸巾、塑料袋等物品。使用过后，不要随意丢弃它们。请大家支持学校回收再利用的倡议，把垃圾分类后放到不同的垃圾箱里。

We all eat and drink at school every day, so there are a lot of wrappers, plastic bags to dispose of. But don’t just throw your such things into the rubbish bin after using them----- please support the school’s recycling programme! Put paper, plastic, glass and metal into the recycling bins.

做到这些，我们将会拥有一个碧水蓝天的世界。

Follow these steps,then we’ll all have a green world.
